Treatment of Varicose Veins
Preserving the Saphenous Vein
Learn about the procedures to treat varicose veins and preserve the saphenous vein. Endolaser, foam and common surgery destroy and do not treat the saphenous vein as many think. There are hemodynamic techniques that allow us to preserve the saphenous vein. Techniques from Europe Available in Brazil with Dr. Felipe Faccini.

You have varicose veins and a venous reflux was found and you were asked to "treat" the saphenous vein with laser, foam or conventional surgery. Know that these techniques do not treat, they eliminate the saphenous vein.
You probably know that if your saphenous vein is maintained, it could save your life. We all may need a heart or arterial bypass. In France, the removed saphenous veins are preserved and sold to do bypass in other people. Preserved saphenous veins can and should be used in bypass, contrary to popular belief.
You probably imagine that if you have trauma or thrombosis in the deep vein of the leg and the saphenous veinhas been eliminated, you could have problems. Recovery from this event will be much worse than in cases where the saphenous vein was destroyed. By maintaining the saphenous vein, recovery becomes much easier if such a problem occurs.
You also imagine that the burned or eliminated saphenous veins will no longer carry blood. And obviously the body will have to create new ways to overcome this difficulty imposed by surgery. This causes varicose "mating" spots and new visible veins.
You may not know, but instead of destroying it you can treat your varicose vein problem preserving the saphenous vein and a large part of your venous capital. In Spain, the majority of surgeries performed use the technique that preserves the saphenous vein. In Europe, such procedures have been carried out since the 1980s.
We can preserve the saphenous vein with reflux, procedures without rest on local anesthesia
Discover the techniques that preserve the saphenous vein: CHIVA, ASVAL, HOT CHIVA, Hemodynamic Sclerotherapy.
The CHIVA technique is a technique from Europe that is bringing many possibilities for the treatment of varicose veins in Brazil. We use hemodynamic assessment to define the points that are creating increased pressure in the veins. So, we resolved these points and keep as many veins as possible. Always preserving the saphenous veins, even if they have reflux.
Dr. Felipe Faccini, one of the pioneers of this technique in the country, has already been invited to speak about it at several congresses, due to its success and effectiveness. Congresses in different states of the country, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, Italy, China.
How does it work?
The CHIVA technique uses hemodynamic mapping performed on the leg using a Doppler ultrasound device. This means that, instead of destroying all the vessels in the leg, the treatment is directed only at the veins that cause blood to "leak" to the wrong place. Thus, it preserves the saphenous vein and improves circulation by resolving the change in flow that causes increased pressure and the growth of varicose veins.
Think of the veins in your legs like water pipes in a house. Over time, some of these pipes can wear out, causing problems. CHIVA and other preservation techniques are like having a specialized plumber who uses modern tools to repair only the pipes that need it, without having to destroy the entire pipe.
In other words, depending on the person's case, we adjust the procedure that best suits them. Depending on the circulation situation (hemodynamic) Dr. Felipe Faccini defines the treatment. The procedures are performed using local anesthesia and do not require rest.

Augmented Reality
+ ECODOPPLER
• Uses hemodynamics to improve flow
• Maintains the saphenous vein to save life if necessary
• Precise and minimally invasive treatment based on venous hemodynamics
• Quick and effective procedure
• Fast recovery
• Employs vein viewing equipment and EcoDoppler to see veins that do not appear to the naked eye
• Minimizes the need for surgery
-
Improves blood circulation and leg health: Sometimes it can even reverse saphenous vein reflux. When it does not reverse, the reflux is greatly reduced and directed towards a perforator that takes it to the heart, resolving the problem.
-
Aesthetic improvement: Reduces varicose veins effectively and safely. But it keeps blood circulating in them in small quantities. Without swelling them like before.
-
Preserves the saphenous vein and the maximum amount of its venous capital: All the techniques we use preserve the great saphenous vein.
What is the first consultation experience like?
The first consultation with Dr. Felipe Faccini is a unique opportunity to understand your needs and obtain an accurate and detailed diagnosis. This one-hour consultation is carefully structured to ensure you receive the best assessment and personalized treatment plan.
Step 1: Clinical Examination
First, you will be taken to the exam room inside the clinic. Dr. Felipe Faccini will perform a thorough clinical examination, assessing your condition and discussing your symptoms and medical history.
Step 2: Exam with Augmented Reality
Next, it will use innovative augmented reality technology. This device is aimed at the skin to reveal vessels that would not be visible to the naked eye. This allows a more detailed and accurate assessment of your veins, especially those that feed microveins.
Step 3: Hemodynamic Echo Doppler
When necessary, Dr. Felipe Faccini will also perform a hemodynamic Echodoppler exam during the first consultation. This advanced exam helps you understand the dynamics of blood flow in your veins, identifying problems that may be causing your varicose veins.

Frequently asked questions about treatments preserving the Saphenous Vein
Will I need a long recovery period? Don't worry! CHIVA is a minimally invasive procedure, which means recovery is quick and smooth. Generally, you will be able to return to your normal activities the next day. Even go to the gym.
Is this treatment expensive? We understand your financial concerns. Our techniques offer an excellent cost-benefit ratio, avoiding additional costs and associated risks. Additionally, we offer affordable payment options to make treatment even more affordable for you.
Where is the procedure performed? For the safety and comfort of patients, we prefer to perform the procedure in a hospital. No matter how good the structure of a clinic is, we rarely have the same level of security as the hospital for rare and occasional difficulties. But the procedure is done on an outpatient basis and the patient leaves shortly after the procedure.
Is this treatment for me? Saphenous vein preservation is suitable for most people who want to treat varicose veins, edema or ulcers effectively and safely. During your initial consultation, Dr. Felipe Faccini will perform a detailed assessment to ensure this is the ideal treatment for you.
What if it doesn't work for me? With the experience and advanced technique of Dr. Felipe Faccini, techniques preserving the saphenous vein have shown excellent results for the majority of patients. We are committed to providing the best treatment possible and track your progress to adjust the plan as needed.
Does it stain the skin? All techniques can cause stains on the skin, in the veins that we keep and don't remove, this chance decreases. Every extra incision/puncture is another chance of marking. We do less local destruction of veins compared to other techniques. Dr. Felipe Faccini uses advanced methods and experience to minimize this risk.
Do varicose veins come back later? Varicose veins can return after any treatment if the underlying cause of poor circulation is not correctly addressed. However, if the circulation is resolved it should return less. But one thing must be said, the patient with varicose veins has weakness in the veins that are not involved as well. We can solve the problem today, after a few years another vein that is normal today becomes altered. Dr. Felipe Faccini focuses on treating the root of the problem, improving circulation and reducing the chance of varicose veins returning. Obviously, we always need to maintain control over quality of life and associated factors.
